Working While Studying

If you have a Student Visa, you have automatically been granted a Work Visa from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. You may only work up to 20 hours per week (outside your course hours). If you do decide to work, you are to ensure that your studies are unaffected.

Admission Requirements
Each country has an Assessment Level for Student Visa Processing. Please refer to the immigration website www.immi.gov.au to see what Visa Subclass and Assessment Level your country is for the course you wish to study.

Headmasters offers a full range of accredited beauty courses from Certificate IV courses to Advanced Diploma.  These come under the Vocational and Education Training Sector (VET) Visa sub-class 572.

Assessment Level 4 countries are only able to apply for courses of at least two years duration.  By enrolling in WRH30106 Certificate III in Hairdressing and WRB50104 Diploma of Beauty Therapy, students will complete two years of training and gain two qualifications in industries which have a shortage of skilled professionals.

All prospective students will have to demonstrate proficiency in English. Students from Assessment Level 3 and 4 countries can apply for relevant courses and must complete an IELTS test and achieve Level 5.5. IELTS test to have been conducted not more than 12 months before the day on which the application was made. Once IELTS Level 5.5 has been achieved students will then be able to enrol at Headmasters.

Although it is not compulsory for students from Assessment Level 1 & 2 countries to sit an English Language Proficiency Test such as IELTS to qualify for a student visa, it is a requirement of enrolment at Headmasters that the student is able to demonstrate proficiency in English.

Applicants who are not proficient in the English language will need to enrol in an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS).  Arrangements can be made to complete the ELICOS course with an ELICOS Provider.  To find out further information about where you can undertake an IELTS test in your country contact Headmasters, your representative or visit http://www.ielts.org.
